On January 21, 2019, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Omega Omega Chapter and The 1926 Foundation, Inc. partnered with the Paul Robeson High School for Human Services for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Members of the Omega Omega chapter, students, staff, and community volunteers helped to paint the school hallways, organize the book room, host a community resource fair, a vision board workshop, and collect 72 pairs of shoes for Soles4Souls.

Participants of the resource fair included, Asia Adams Foundation, Get Healthy Philly, The Police Athletic League of Philadelphia (PAL), Philadelphia Mural Arts, and the #CAP, HBCU for Life, and Heart Health committees of Omega Omega chapter. ShopRite of Parkside sponsored the Heart Healthy breakfast for the volunteers.

The honorable Mayor Jim Kenney, State Representatives Jim Roebuck, State Representative Joanna McClinton, City Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, and City Councilman Derrick Green stopped by to provide words of encouragement to the students.

The day concluded with a Spoken Word Contest, with PRHS senior Shanice Alston winning 1st place and receiving a $100 gift card for her poem “Donald Trump.”
